A minor possessing alcohol can be punished by up to 6 months in jail and a $300.00 fine or both. Adults furnishing alcohol to, or purchasing alcohol for minors is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a $1,000.00 fine and 1 year in jail or both.
If a minor in the State of Georgia is convicted of attempting to purchase alcohol, The State of Georgia Department of Driver’s Services (Georgia DDS) will suspend the minor’s drivers license for a minimum of 6 months and as much as 12 months upon subsequent convictions.

Minors are also allowed to possess and serve alcohol in the course of employment at an establishment that is licensed to produce or serve alcohol.
